Dog Obedience Training – Training Your Dog the Command “No”

Learning just a few basic dog training commands can go a long way toward creating a dog that is a joy to be around.  Everyone has seen examples of both well trained and poorly trained dogs, and few people would opt for the poorly trained varieties.

One of the six basic dog obedience training commands that every dog should know is “No”. It is one of the six commands that form the basis of good dog behaviour training. Without knowing this command and the other 5, (“Heel”, “Sit”, “Stay”, “Down” and “Off”), it will be impossible to move onto other commands, or to correct problem  dog behavior.

The Dog Obedience Command “No”

The voice command "no" is an important one for you to train your dog to listen to, and one you may be using a lot while training your pet.  It is important that your pet is trained to respond to a sharp “No” promptly and obediently.  Using a stern voice is best when training your dog to pay attention to this voice command. The change in the tone and sharpness of your voice will get your dogs attention.
